3 Stay-At-Home Mini Date Ideas

Having stay-at-home orders can make it hard to plan a date with your partner that is separate from just everyday life. This can be especially difficult if you’re like me and are used to going outside the household for dates. Here are three fun and easy stay-at-home date ideas that will also be worthwhile when we aren’t required to stay home!

Spice it Up.

What is a recipe you’ve always wanted to try but you haven’t been confident enough or have had enough time to do it? Now is the time to try it out together! To make sure things go smoothly, look ahead at what types of tools and ingredients you’ll need to pull off this recipe. Set everything out beforehand to avoid mid-cooking frustrations. Once you have everything you need ready, turn on some music and get to cookin’!

Enjoy the food you made together! Or, if it turns out not-so-great, laugh at your mistakes and try it again another time. The food doesn’t have to be perfect for you to have had a good time while making it.

It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere.

Never underestimate the power of a strong drink and some relaxing time to just talk. And, if you’re not a drinker, that’s okay! Whatever refreshing beverage you prefer will work.

Fix your favorite drinks, and find a peaceful spot to sit outside. I’ve been enjoying the back deck for these evening chats. If you have a fire pit, lighting a fire to roast s’mores can be fun! I know of people who have also been relaxing in their driveway so they can see what’s happening in the neighborhood.

Try to avoid discussion topics that are overly stressful for either person, or take too much mental effort. This is the time to enjoy each other and chill.

Play Your Cards Right.

With phones, computers, and Netflix available, playing a card game may seem a little lame at first. Just give it a try! You may be surprised by how competitive your partner can get. Play a game you already know, or learn a new one! I recommend the card game “Rummy”.

And, if card games aren’t your thing you can try board games or tabletop games such as Bananagrams. This game can be played with almost any number of people, and it is very easy to learn!

  1. We’ve done all three of these and are trying to make them a habit more regularly as well! These are also great suggestions for new parents who want to have date nights after putting their babe to bed since leaving the baby at home to fend for themself is typically looked down upon…lol! This would be a fun regular recurring thread as you hear good creative ideas from others! There are so many fun cheap date ideas. But it does take some getting creative! Thanks for sharing!
